about

Acorn is a mousey gnome, well-versed in plant lore and on a quest to find an heirloom fruit that will save the soil in her homeland. She is a healer, and at least 500 years old.

Tressishisethnica Shahasnathasha (“Tressie”, for short) is a songstress of snakely bloodline, whose songs are given from the divine. She is tall and boisterous, and her blood runs hot unlike the rest of her people.

In our story so far, they have just met in a tavern in the city called Lispool. At the end of a night of drinking, song, and diving into each their scattered knowledge of the demigodess Herahen, they fall into a deep slumber. They dream the same dream: a mysterious glowing path leading them to the center of the city, and the whip of a tail around the corner into a tunnel that they cannot find in waking life. A & T spend the next day in the glow of their time together, opening the questions that arose from their dream. They meet an inviting bard named Turivo, a hoofbeast who holds a deep knowledge of the inner-workings of Lispool. After dinner at Turivo's, A & T return to their room at the tavern, where the innkeep has invited them to stay, as long as Tressie entertains and plays her songs for the patrons 3 nights a week. In their sleep, A & T slip into a familiar dream-state. However, this time in their shared vision the city has crumbled, and the detritus of a night of celebration is strewn around them. They follow the faint sounds of music to a great tent where the city capital was before. Entering the tent, the music grows louder...

This record was given to me at a friend's cabin in Challenge, CA.
I did my best to channel it with the instruments I had on hand!
All songs played by Inger S, with slide guitar from Mercutio on "Timetail".
Mixed and mastered by Inger S.

The record is split into two 30-minute sides, to be released as a double cassette album. The first 30 minutes are songs for Acorn, and the second for Tressie. In the story of the record, the songs are played by an omnipresent band/entity called the "Column Players". They are the homonculi of a frog, bear, elephant, and chicken. They play ethereal instruments atop columns that rise and fall from nowhere.

The cover was designed by Gelliot and Fifi, who respectively play Acorn and Tressie in our storytelling game. Cleverly, they painted the artwork on to a "dungeon master's screen" (a standing screen used to hide secret info from the players) as a birthday present. Images of the screen, and full-body illustrations of A & T are included in the download. The inside of the screen is lined with blue gingham, white lace, and green ribbon trim.
